ELLENVILLE – The first Ulster County money from the Ellenville Million program is about to be doled out as the Main Street Façade Grant Program is now accepting applications.
The program was designed by County Executive Michael Hein to provide a financial boost to the village after the Nevele hotel project was not chosen for a state-approved casino.
“We are excited to be able to participate in this and provide some assistance to building owners,” Hein said. “It will clearly make a big visual difference in the Village of Ellenville and I look forward to having the applications in as quickly as possible.”

Applications must be received by the village clerk by the last day of March and all façade improvements must be completed within four months of final approval. The maximum award is $10,000 with a cash match equal to 50 percent of the award.
“We have seen throughout our country that renovated Main Streets attract tourists and help spur economic development,” said Hein. “For these reasons, the Ellenville Million Program included a Main Street Façade Revitalization Grant Program that can help Ellenville’s building owners to maintain attractive and code compliant buildings.”
Mayor Jeffrey Kaplan said in the village’s efforts to revitalize the downtown business community, they are excited about the county assistance for renovating building exteriors.
