Rye man accused of attacking taxi driver

YONKERS – A Rye man was arrested and charged with attacking a cabbie on I-87 near Yonkers exit 6.
State Police were called to the scene at 11:24 p.m. on Sunday, January 17 and learned that a highly intoxicated passenger, later identified as Shane Tierney, 40, of Rye, had threatened the driver with a knife, struck in on the head and damaged the partition in the taxi.
Tierney was charged with menacing, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon, harassment and disorderly conduct.  He was issued appearance tickets returnable to Yonkers City Court.
