Four Monticello men charged with armed robbery

MONTICELLO – Four Monticello men were arrested and committed to the Sullivan County Jail without bail following an armed robbery in the parking lot of the Monticello Meadows Apartment Complex at Shaker Heights Drive in the village on Thursday, January 7.
The men allegedly pulled what appeared to be a firearm at around 10:40 p.m. and robbed another man of $860 in cash. Several shots were reportedly fired, but there were no injuries.
Frank Drayton, 25, was charged with two felony counts of robbery and conspiracy, as well as misdemeanors for criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. He was also charged with violation of parole.
Rashad Kearse, 31, was charged with two felony counts of robbery, criminal possession of a forged instrument and conspiracy as well as a misdemeanor for unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. He was also issued several vehicle and traffic violation summonses.
Matthew Miller, 22, was charged with two felony counts of robbery and conspiracy, and misdemeanors for criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
Donovan Price, 21, was charged with two felony counts of robbery, conspiracy and a misdemeanor for resisting arrested. He was also charged with violation of parole.
Police spotted a minivan believed occupied by the men leaving the Shaker Heights Drive area. They gave chase and finally stopped the vehicle on Richmond Avenue in the Town of Thompson where Kearse and Miller were quickly arrested. Drayton and Price fled on foot with Drayton being captured in a wooded area. Price eluded police, but was arrested on Friday after he was located hiding in a closet in an apartment at Shaker Heights Drive.
Proceeds from the robbery were found in possession of Drayton and Miller.
When Kearse was arrested he was found in possession of counterfeit currency.
Monticello Police were assisted by Liberty Village Police, Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police.
