POUGHKEEPSIE – Two people who tried to sell their iPhones by using the app “Offer Up,” wound up getting robbed of their mobile devices.
Poughkeepsie City Police said a man had been trying to sell his iPhone and had come to Thompson Street just after 5 p.m. on December 27 to meet the potential buyer when he was approached by two 15-year-olds, one of whom pulled a knife and the other stole the phone.
The victim was able to identify the suspects and both were arrested as juveniles.
Days earlier on December 20 just before 8 p.m., a woman who had been selling her iPhone was robbed of it at the Smith Street housing projects when she had gone to meet the prospective buyer.
City Police advise the public to be cautious and use common sense when setting meetings to sell property.
