COLD SPRING – Christmas may be here, but you can engage in another form “gift-giving” says an environmental advocate.
Manna Jo Greene, the environmental action director of Hudson River Sloop Clearwater said people should think of earth-friendly, sustainable gifts.
“Save a reuse cards and gift wrap,” She suggests.  “Try cutting off the back of this year’s holiday card and reusing it as a holiday post card next year.  When shopping for gifts, think quality, not quantity. Think long-term rather than short-term. For the sake of our planet, as well as your loved ones, buy items that will last.”
Greene provides a full list of gift suggestions on this week’s “Your Environment” program on the front page of MidHudsonNews.com.
They include buying rechargeable batteries and a battery charger instead of one-use batteries, a solar powered flashlight, or bake cookies, cakes or pies, or give tickets to a concert, play or sporting event.
