Funeral service for fallen firefighter set for Monday

SAUGERTIES – Firefighters from across the region are expected to attend the funeral on Monday for Jack Rose, the 19-year-old captain in the Mt. Marion Fire Department who collapsed and died while at a fire on Saturday, December 19.
Rose was a member of the fire department for three years and was recently promoted to captain.
Visitation will be on Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home in Saugerties. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 p.m. on Monday at St. John Evangelist RC Church in Centerville. Interment with firematic honors will be conducted at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Barclay Heights.
“Jack was a rare and fiercely loyal young man. His level of commitment extended to his family, firehouse, friends, studies, and community,” his obituary read.
Rose graduated from John A. Coleman High School in Kingston in 2014. During his years there, he was a member of the National Honors Society and was a varsity member of both the golf and tennis teams.
In addition to his parents, Gary and Linda Rose, he is survived by his brother, Matthew, and sister-in-law Jessica Rose of Saugerties, a niece, aunts, uncles and cousins.
