Standoff in Brewster with barricaded man ends with suicide

BREWSTER – A man who barricaded
himself in a residence in Brewster early Monday afternoon remained there
firing a weapon repeatedly as dozens of police officers stood by outside.

By 7 p.m., a police robot was sent in and found the man, dead from a self-inflicted
gunshot wound, police said.

Police evacuated homes in the Nichols Road area near Peach Lane Road as
the incident played out.
