TOWN OF WALLKILL – A Matamoras, Pennsylvania man had the scare of a lifetime when he brought his six-year-old grandson to Party Zone game center at 360 Route 211 in the Town of Wallkill around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The child is a non-verbal, special needs boy, who was playing inside when there was a widespread power outage in the area.
The grandfather, Anthony Wright, searched high and low inside and outside the facility and called police for help. A large contingent fanned out across the area until the boy was found safe.
The youngster had not wandered off, but rather was inside an inflatable amusement ride that deflated when the power went out and he was stuck inside.
Assisting Wallkill Police in searching for the child were the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Middletown City Police, State Police, Silver Lake Fire Department, Orange County Fire Coordinator and Town of Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
