CORNWALL-ON-HUDSON – A northbound CSX train with two locomotives and 37 cars struck an occupied vehicle at the Dock Hill Road crossing at about 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday.
There was no damage to the train and no injuries to the crew. The car burst into flames, but the driver, a 44-year-old Wappingers Falls woman, was able to get out and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for treatment after being administered first aid by Cornwall EMS, said Assistant Cornwall-on-Hudson Storm King Engine Co. #2 Fire Chief Joe Trainor.
The train originated in Oak Island, New Jersey and was headed to Clearing, Illinois, said a CSX spokesman.
The train was cleared to resume travel at about 3 a.m.
