Bystander struck by bullet as gunman misses intended target

POUGHKEEPSIE – Police are looking for a man, who tried to shoot another man who was riding a bike toward him in Poughkeepsie, but wounded a bystander instead.
Poughkeepsie Police said the incident occurred Monday afternoon in the area of 120 Hudson Avenue Building 6.
Investigation revealed that the suspect, a heavy-set black man wearing a black jacket, gray pants and beige work boots, was walking through the projects and when he spotted his intended victim he fired several shots at him, missing and striking the bystander.
That bystander was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery. The wound is not considered life threatening, police said.
There were several witnesses to the shooting and police are asking anyone with information to call the City of Poughkeepsie tip line at 845-451-7577.
