MONTICELLO – A 31-year-old Maybrook man was committed to the Sullivan
County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail or bond following his arrest
on Wednesday on rape charges.

The Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team along with State Police
investigators charged Jason Horton with three counts of rape and one count
of criminal sexual act, all as felonies. He was also charged with the
misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child.

While an English teacher at the Tri-Valley School District, Horton is
accused of having sexual contact with a 17-year-old female student during
school hours. He left the Tri-Valley district in early November and is
currently employed by the Poughkeepsie City School District.

Police said the Tri-Valley School District is cooperating with the investigation
and has informed parents and staff of Horton’s arrest.

If anyone has information about the investigation, police ask that they
