MONROE – Voters in the
164-acre area of the Town of Monroe which has been proposed for annexation
into the Village of Kiryas Joel Monday approved the plan.
Forty people voted for the annexation while 12 voted against it.
Both the village board and town council have approved the annexation,
which continues to be the subject of legal action.
A recent court decision ordered that the transfer would not proceed if
the vote was in the affirmative until legal challenges have been resolved.
