alleged graffiti

ELLENVILLE – Village Police in Ellenville concluded a lengthy investigation into graffiti tagging incidents that have occurred over the last three years in a tri-county area.
Ryan Wells, 21, of Ellenville was arrested on Wednesday evening, charged with felony criminal mischief and several dozen counts of misdemeanor making graffiti and possession of graffiti instruments.  He was released after posting cash bail.
Over the last three years, police investigated several incidents in the village, of repeated acts of graffiti using the tag “Raspy,” “Choper,” and others.
A search of Wells’ social media accounts, including Instagram revealed over 500 photos of various acts of graffiti, which included photos of the tags. Police also executed a search warrant on his vehicle and found several cans of spray paint and markers used to make the graffiti, which police said causes thousands of dollars worth of damage in the village and adjoining towns and cities in Ulster, Sullivan and Orange counties.
