Rolison: “… assemble a team
at City Hall”

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Robert Rolison won the race for Poughkeepsie City mayor defeating Randy Johnson.
Rolison, a Republican, beat the Democratic Johnson, a member of the Poughkeepsie School Board, in a predominantly Democratic city.
The mayor-elect said he is not going to waste any time putting his strategy in place.
“One of the first things, and this literally starts tomorrow (Wednesday), to start to think about how we are going to assemble a team at City Hall – city administrator, city finance commissioner, so when we start in January we have the most competent people in those positions to help, not only guide me, because I am going to need that guidance, but also to the city council and other parts of government to understand where we are at and take whatever corrective actions and develop a short- and a long-term plan to right the fiscal ship,” Rolison said.
Poughkeepsie has term limits so current Mayor John Tkazyik could not seek a third term.
Democrats will maintain solid control of the City Council.
