Liberty man arrested following drug investigation

LIBERTY – Village Police in Liberty in conjunction with the FBI
Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force have arrested a 26-year-old Liberty
man following a narcotics investigation.

That look into crack cocaine sales from a room at the Liberty Motel on
South Main Street resulted in the execution of a search warrant and the
arrest of Tony Phillips on Tuesday morning. As a result of the search,
34 bags of cocaine packaged for sale, drug paraphernalia and cash were
seized.

Phillips was charged with criminal possession of drugs with intent to
sell, tampering with physical evidence both as felonies and misdemeanor
drug possession.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.

Police also arrested Sharina Burkes, 33, of Liberty at the scene. She
was charged with misdemeanor drug possession and released on an appearance
ticket.

Assisting Liberty Police were the Sullivan County District Attorney’s
Office, State Police, FBI and Monticello Village Police.
