MONTICELLO – The Adelaar Casino and resort to be built in Kiamesha Lake has an arrangement with the Village of Monticello to tie into its water supply, but it now is asking for more volume.
The village will upgrade its water treatment plant and water system with the assistance of a $7 million USDA low-interest loan.  That will pay for most of the work, said Mayor Douglas Solomon.
“The casino is asking for more water than they initially indicated they wanted so that will bring in a very healthy revenue stream into the village and I am confident that within a number of years we will have a state-of-the-art water system,” he said.
Solomon said the extra revenue from the increased water provided to the casino should pay for the complete water project.
