HYDE PARK – A more than 1.6 mile-long section of the Hyde Park Greenway Trail has opened with project partners gathering on Friday to mark the occasion.
Kathleen Davis of the Hyde Park Greenway Trail Committee said the new
section is a significant piece of the trail.
“You can actually park at Mills Norrie, or Norrie Point, and go for a nice hike heading south through the state park, through Anderson School and south to Dominican Camp where there is a beautiful overlook there of the Hudson River,” Davis said.
The new trail is seen as an important piece in realizing the Greenway Trail that will connect the Mid-Hudson Bridge at Highland-Poughkeepsie to the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge.
The new section is a collaboration between the Hyde Park Greenway Trail Committee; Town of Hyde Park; New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation; and Scenic Hudson.
