MONTROSE – The former
Montrose VA indoor pool, which has been closed for years, is going to
be upgraded at a cost of $5.5 million. A groundbreaking ceremony was held
Monday for the indoor facility.

Congresswoman Nita Lowey, who secured the funding for the work, said when
opened, the pool will be used for veteran therapy.

“We will never be able to fully repay veterans who risk their lives
defending the American way of life, but we can and must help them recover
from injuries sustained from their service,” she said. The therapeutic
pool will help vets “heal the wounds of war,” Lowey said.
The project should be completed by summer of 2017.
