TOWN OF HAVERSTRAW – The former Letchworth Village property in the Town of Haverstraw will not be converted into a Legoland amusement park. The town board turned thumbs down on the multi-million project because it caved into opposition.
Rockland Business Association President Al Samuels is frustrated and disappointed by the loss.
“Legoland alone, that project, it’s a $325 million project – that’s the investment that would have been made here, 600 construction jobs and 1,000 net new jobs working at the facility, with opportunities for a community that desperately needs employment,” he said.
Samuels noted that the project was top on the list of those supported by the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council.
