ELLENVILLE – State Police have arrested
a Town of Wawarsing woman in connection with several burglaries in the
town.

Omaida Perez, 35, was charged with one count of felony burglary, two counts
of attempted burglary, petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled
substance, as misdemeanors.

Troopers investigated a daytime burglary on Route 55 in Napanoch where
Perez attempted to break into an apartment while it was occupied. She
fled and was later apprehended in the area.

Police learned that before the burglary was reported, she attempted to
gain entry into another home in Shady Acres Trailer Park in Napanoch.
She did not obtain any property from either attempt.

After Perez fled from that burglary, she went to a friend’s home
where she became involved in an altercation with him and stole two prescription
Oxycodone pills and $80 in cash.

During the investigations, police learned Perez had committed a burglary
at a home in Napanoch in July in which she stole jewelry and sold it at
a local pawn shop.

Perez was committed to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash
bail or $50,000.
