NEW CITY – Nyack resident Janice White was convicted following a jury trial in Rockland County Court in connection with the violent knife attack against another person.  White was found guilty of assault and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.
On November 28, 2014 at about 2:40 p.m., White slashed a man across the right side of the face at Memorial Park in Nyack. The slashing caused a deep laceration from the victim’s ear to the corner of his mouth.
White, 41, was arrested by Orangetown Police about an hour after the attack. The knife used was never recovered.
The victim underwent surgery to close the severe wound and required numerous stitches to the exterior of his face and inside his mouth.
White had a previous conviction for grand larceny from 1998.  She faces up to 25 years in state prison when sentenced in January.
