PEARL RIVER – Orange and
Rockland Utilities has declared a company-wide Storm Watch in anticipation
of a major storm system that could move through the region this weekend.

There are no severe weather emergencies on the O&R system currently,
but forecasters are predicting the possibility of heavy rain and high
winds at some point this weekend or early next week as a result of Hurricane
Joaquin’s churning up the eastern seaboard.

Because the storm activity increases the potential for power and gas line
damage and electric and gas service interruptions, O&R’s Storm
Function coordinators have been ordered to prepare their organizations
for activation to make repairs and restore electric service as needed.
