Neuhaus unveils is proposed 2016 budget, which remains under the
state tax cap

GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus Wednesday evening
presented his proposed 2016 county budget that will avoid layoffs, cut
spending by $7.5 million, invests $105,000 to strengthen the three cities,
and focus on tourism.

The $725.3 million spending plan fights childhood hunger, sells unused
assets and properties and stays under the state cap.

“For the second year in a row, Orange County has cut expenses by
millions and followed the tax cap law,” Neuhaus said. “I have
made it my mission to stabilize and strengthen finances, without sacrificing
the many important services that county government provides to our residents.”

“Orange County is asking no more than is needed of our citizens
in this budget, while both reducing spending and also targeting job-growing
areas for more investment,” said County Legislature Chairman Stephen
Brescia.
