NEWBURGH – Newly reelected Orange County Conservative Party Chairman John Delessio says he will back whoever the Republican and Conservative parties endorse to run for president; however, he would like to support John Kasich or Carly Fiorina.
If Donald Trump, the current frontrunner among GOP candidates were to win the nomination, Delessio would support him.
“He might have started out as an entertainer, but I think you have to take him seriously and if he comes out of the primaries on top, he’s got my support,” Delessio said, adding any of the Republican candidates would be better than President Obama.
An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released overnight shows that Trump’s lead is slipping. Trump and Dr. Ben Carson are now in a statistical dead heat, with Trump at 21 percent and Carson at 20 percent. Fiorina and Marco Rubio are tied for third at 11 percent each.
