NEW WINDSOR – An ambitious proposal is under review to redevelop the eight-acres of land along International Boulevard at the entrance to Stewart Airport.
The site, on land owned by the Town of New Windsor, is where 10 old Army barracks were recently demolished.
Plans include a hotel, conference center, restaurants and one more feature – a skywalk, Orange County Industrial Development Agency Executive Director James Petro told MidHudsonNews.com.
“One unique feature would be a direct walkway, directly from the hotel into the terminal itself and it’s something feasible,” he said. “I think that would be pretty interesting to see something over top Bruenig Road right into a terminal from a hotel.”
Petro said the unnamed developers presented their proposal to New Windsor town and airport officials who were receptive to it.
