GOSHEN – Incumbent Mayor Judy Kennedy appears to have captured
the Independence Party line in her effort to keep the city’s top
elected job.

Kennedy, who lost her own Democratic Party primary race last week to Jonathan
Jacobson, looks like she will be on the November ballot on the Independence
line.

There were no candidates listed in the primary, but 12 people entered
write-in choices.

Of those, the unofficial tally shows Kennedy secured eight votes while
Jacobson won two, City Councilwoman Gay Lee also had two write-ins and
Republican candidate John Giudice garnered one write-in.

Six votes were voided.

Kennedy believes she can still win as long as she has the support of the
community.

The write-in numbers are expected to be certified by the Orange County
Board of Elections Thursday.
