MARLBORO – As part of the federal and state governments’ effort to inspect railroad tracks to ensure safety of crude oil tank cars passing along those rails, a short section of CSX mainline track was inspected in Marlboro.
Federal Railroad Administration inspectors examined approximately one mile of track and one switch along the track and found one critical defect, a less than allowable guard check gauge, which was immediately repaired.
Other CSX mainline inspections were conducted in Erie, Genesee, Montgomery and Oneida counties.
Crude oil tank cars were also inspected in Albany, Selkirk and Buffalo.
