KINDERHOOK – Former state Assemblyman John Faso is going to run
for Congress in the 19th District. He will make the announcement official
Tuesday at campaign stops at his home in Kinderhook and later in Rhinebeck
and New Paltz.

In a campaign video released Monday, Faso said he wants to turn the economy
around for upstate New York.

“For too many families today in Upstate New York they are being
forced to leave because the jobs and the opportunity have left us. That’s
what we’ve got to change, that’s what we’ve got to fix,”
he said. “I’ve been an advocate fall my life and I’m
running for Congress and I want to continue to be an advocate for Upstate
New York, for our families, for our region, for our jobs.”
When Faso was in the Assembly, he was the Republican minority leader.
In 2002 he ran unsuccessfully for state comptroller and in 2006, he ran
in a failed campaign for governor.
