MIDDLETOWN – Fire early Saturday morning damaged the interior of a vacant house at 12 Wilcox Avenue in Middletown.
City firefighters were assisted by other area departments in extinguishing the two-alarm fire, which was reported at 2:12 a.m. Firefighters were released from the scene at 4:49 a.m.
There were no reports of injuries.
Neighbors and the police said it was a very smoky fire, which had to be tracked down.
The house was empty, but was apparently being worked on, possibly earlier on Friday.
The cause is under investigation.
