Federal crime prevention funds coming to Yonkers

YONKERS – The City of Yonkers will receive $142,222 in federal funding to purchase a marked police vehicle, computer software/hardware and communications equipment.
A part of the Justice Assistance Grant will be used to support overtime expenses.
“Thanks to these new federal dollars, our police department will be able to purchase a new police vehicle, providing our officers with the resources necessary to patrol our neighborhoods and protect the quality of life in our city,” said Mayor Michael Spano.
The BYRNE JAG program provides funding to support activities to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice system that include law enforcement programs; drug treatment programs; and planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs; and crime victim witness programs.
