PATTERSON – A Patterson man was committed to the Putnam County
Jail in lieu of bail in connection with three separate thefts of copper
fixtures from cell communications towers in Patterson and Kent.

Brian Windover, 38, is accused of breaking into the tower site shelters
and stealing several copper grounding bars from inside the facilities.

He allegedly broke into the facilities at Concord Road in Patterson on
July 23, at another tower along Route 301 in Kent on July 27, and at a
third tower along Ludingtonville Road in Patterson on July 14.

Sheriff’s investigators were able to obtain images of his vehicle
from a security camera video recording on July 27. On August 14, Investigator
Randall Hill spotted a car matching the suspect’s entering the cell
tower property there.

Hill checked more closely and aught Windover in the act of entering the
facility. Further investigation connected him to the two earlier thefts
and he was arrested for all three, charged with burglary, criminal trespass,
criminal mischief and possession of burglar’s tools.

Windover was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash
bail or $10,000 bond.

Investigations are ongoing into other similar thefts from cell towers
in the area.
