Newburgh credit union robbed of over $200,000

NEWBURGH – Police are looking for
two men who held up a bank branch on Corwin Court in Newburgh around 8:15
a.m. Monday. Officials of Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union branch
at 2 Corwin Court said the robbers made off with over $200,000.

The men, said to be black and wearing ski masks, were reported to be armed
with a gun and knife when they entered the credit union branch through
a back door.

Bank officials said all member accounts are fully insured by the National
Credit Union Association for up to $250,000.
Officials said branch staff followed proper security protocols and as
a result everyone was kept safe.

One suspect is described by police as a light-skinned black man, about
five feet, nine inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing dark glasses,
a burgundy hoodie, and black pants with a gray stripe, gloves with a yellow
stripe and held a gray/black backpack.

The other man is described as a black man about five feet, eight inches
to nine inches tall, with a stocky build, black sweatpants, a blue and
white bandanna and green and gold sneakers.

City Police are being assisted by State Police, New Windsor and Newburgh
Town Police, and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
