PUTNAM VALLEY – Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park in Putnam Valley has become a key factor in the tourism in the Hudson Valley, according to a study issued by the Open Institute’s Alliance for New York State Parks.
Erik Kulisade, OSI’s vice president, said the park draws some 270,000 visitors annually.
“Nearly half of Fahnestock’s visitors originate from the New York City metropolitan area with 30 percent from the five boroughs or Long Island alone,” he said. “The study also captured the park’s role as an economic catalyst with an estimated $14.5 million impact on the local and state economy”
Kulisade said the park is buzzing on weekdays and weekends contributing to its economic impact.

Fahnestock is popular with hikers, swimmers, campers, birders and anglers in all seasons
