NEW CITY – The Rockland County Commission on Community Behavior Health Friday released its final report with recommendations to reshape the delivery system in the county in a financially sustainable way. The commission was formed some nine months ago by County Executive Edwin Day.
The commission’s primary task was to conduct a thorough, countywide community assessment of behavioral health needs, including an analysis of strengths and gaps, said Day.
“At the end of the day if we are successful in dealing with behavioral health issues now we minimize tragedies, we minimize drug overdoses, we minimize people going to jail; all of these thing cost a lot more than a few dollars we would have to spend to make sure these services are available,” he said.
Day said the county could improve its services by teaming up with non-profit agencies.
