TOWN OF WALLKILL – A Newburgh man, who was employed by an agency
that provides residential services to the mentally handicapped in Sullivan
County, has been arrested for allegedly punching a 36-year-old mentally
handicapped man under his supervision. The victim was recovering from
surgery at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill.
James Damey, 25, no longer works for that agency. He was charged with endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person as a felony and misdemeanor assault.
Damey was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Wallkill Town Court at a later date.
