POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County
Deputy Sheriffs’ Police Benevolent Association has endorsed the
candidacy of Poughkeepsie mayoral candidate Robert Rolison.

He was a Town of Poughkeepsie police officer and detective for a total
of 26 years.

The union, which represents 100 members, is backing Rolison because he
“has worked for 12 years in the county legislature to provide the
men and women of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office with the tools
they need to fight crime,” said PBA President Kenneth Powers.

On July 29, Rolison announced a joint county-city plan to provide Poughkeepsie
with additional resources to combat a recent string of shootings in the
city. The plan includes doubling the number of patrols involving sheriff’s
office and City of Poughkeepsie Police personnel in crime hot spots.
