NEW CITY – The State Health Department approved Sympaticare’s licenses to operate the Rockland County’s Summit Park Hospital and Nursing Care Home. The action is “a giant step forward for both the hospital and nursing care center,” said County Executive Edwin Day.
The Rockland County Health Facilities Corporation is “free to move forward with the purchase and sale agreement, leading to an imminent transfer of ownership,” Day said, calling the sale of both facilities “a critical element in the county’s economic turnaround.”
The state approval comes just days after a state court said Orange County could not sell its Valley View nursing home because the legislative resolution creating a local development corporation as a mechanism by which to do that was illegally approved as it needed a two-thirds vote of the legislature, not the majority vote that gave the okay.
