POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency is developing a written plan to keep closer tabs on businesses for which they grant financial incentives.
The IDA board, under the leadership of Charles Daniels, discussed advances during Tuesday’s session.
“We would adopt, for the first time as a formal policy, performance based incentive packages with the understanding that the board would still retain the right in the event that there was some natural disaster that hit the county, for example, and everybody was seeing drops in employment or drops in investments,” Daniels said.
The industrial development agency usually offers sales and mortgage tax exemptions and payments in lieu of taxes to companies that are moving into the county and promising the hiring of new employees.
