HYDE PARK – Democrat Hyde Park Town
Supervisor Aileen Rohr is seeking a third two-year term this fall.
Her formal announcement came Thursday, days after a caucus was held for
all registered Democrats in the town where she was selected.
The biggest challenge facing the town going forward is providing essential services to residents with the loss of sales tax and mortgage tax revenue and the state tax cap, said Rohr.  There is a second issue facing Hyde Park, that being the need to redevelop the business corridors, she said.
“That has been challenging because the general economy is still weak so we have been working hard to obtain grant funding to improve our infrastructure to make our corridors more attractive to investors,” she said.
Rohr said the state is going to fund an upgrade to Route 9 through the center of the town.
The Democratic caucus also endorsed incumbent town council members Emily Svenson, David Ray and Ken Schneider, as well as Joseph Marrine.  The caucus also chose Joseph Petito for town justice.
