Castella (podium) announces the fest
POUGHKEEPSIE – The 15th year of Jazz in the Valley will be held in Poughkeepsie this year.
Events include a free jazz concert on Saturday, August 15 on the lawn at Poughkeepsie City Hall and Jazz in the Valley on Sunday, August 16 at Waryas Park. The Sunday concert at the park starts at 12 noon and includes a number of jazz greats.
Event organizers, city and Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commercial officials made the announcement on Thursday.
Chamber President Frank Castella, Jr. said the weekend events will provide a cultural boost for the city.
“We are not necessarily known for our artists and our culture here; however, we have an awful lot of it and it’s nice to have a coming together community in the City of Poughkeepsie,” Castella said.
