ALBANY – Ulster County had the highest
percentage of job growth in the region when comparing June 2014 to this
June.
With a 2.1 percent increase in jobs, Ulster tops the Orange-Rockland-Westchester
Metro Division with its 1.4 percent increase. Sullivan County jobs grew
by one percent while Columbia County jobs grew by six-tenths of one percent.
Greene County had no job growth and the Dutchess-Putnam Metro Division
lost three-tenths of one percent of jobs.
For the 12-month period ending in June, private sector employment in the
region increased by 9,000 or 1.2 percent, to 778,000.
Jobs were added in educational and health services; leisure and hospitality;
other services; and professional and business services.
Job losses were centered in manufacturing; financial activities; information;
trade, transportation and utilities; and construction.
The government sector shed 700 jobs.
