NEW CITY – The Rockland County Legislature
has approved the hiring of two social services investigators to go after
those who fraudulently collect Medicaid and other social services funds
from the county.
“This legislative action will enable our county to expose Medicaid and social services fraud, so that taxpayers don’t pick up the tab for cheaters,” said Legislature Chairman Alden Wolfe. “We will work to root out fraud in the system while we ensure that those who deserve and qualify for the assistance of these programs receive it with dignity.”
Salaries of the two investigators will not impact the county budget as federal and state aid will cover 72 percent of their pay with the remainder coming from savings gained from existing salaries.
