NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh, which
is renting the temporary bridge on Lake Street, will purchase the structure.
It will cost just under $161,000, but City Manager Michael Ciaravino said in the long-term, it could save the city money.
“We have a number of other infrastructure needs in our city that may require us to have temporary bridging in the future and we have already done the engineering for the footing that is required for that bridge so that if we are able to succeed in landing state funds that temporary bridge will come to use in some other part of the city,” he said.
Ciaravino said the city might even be able to rent it out to other municipalities should they need it.
