GOSHEN – As part of the Orange County
District Attorney’s Community Outreach Program, DA David Hoovler
will host a hunter safety program. The 10-hour course will be held on
September 1 and 2 at the new senior center in the Town of Deerpark. The
course will run from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both dates.

The purpose of the course is to encourage interaction between law enforcement
and the youth in the county and to stress the importance of gun safety,
Hoovler said.

The course will be taught by Police Officer Michael Decker of the City
of Port Jervis Police Department and Sgt. Ray Cirulli of the Town of Deerpark
Police Department. Both men are certified state Department of Environmental
Conservation Hunter safety instructors. Assistant district attorneys will
also assist in the program.

“The youth of our county need to have positive experiences with
police officers,” said Hoovler. “I am hopeful that these courses
will foster an interest in our young people in safely experiencing the
natural beauty of our county by engaging in outdoor activities and in
learning the importance of conservation.”

Anyone interested in enrolling in the course should call the DA’s
office at 845-291-2050.
