POUGHKEEPSIE – Ground could be broken
in the next several months on a new mixed use project at 178 Main Street
in Poughkeepsie that officials believe could be a new anchor for the city.

Kearney Reality plans on building on a vacant lot they bought from the
city for $250,000.

Mayor John Tkazyik said it will be a major plus for downtown.

“It’s going to bring in a new restaurant, artists’ lofts,
retail space and it’s exactly more of the positive infusion that
we need on Main Street, especially the jobs it is going to create,”
he said.
Plans call for 10,000 square feet of retail space, a 2,000 square foot
restaurant and 72 artist lofts.

The city planning board declared itself lead agency on the project on
Tuesday evening.
