Man tries to hold up resident with knife

SAUGERTIES – Police in Saugerties are looking for a man who tried to hold up a Market Street, Saugerties man with a knife.
A 34-year-old village man told police he was outside his residence shortly after midnight on Monday morning when he was approached by a man asking for the time. The suspect then pulled a knife and demanded the victim’s money and gold chain.  A struggle reportedly ensued between the two and after being pushed away by the victim, the suspect ran off.
A police K-9 from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office assisted in trying to track down the suspect.
