KINGSTON – Residents in the City of
Kingston have expressed concern why there was no public notification or
alert issued regarding the shooting of a 17-year-old boy at 82 Spring
Street Wednesday afternoon.

“Without revealing intimate details specific to the investigation,
which is ongoing, we would like to state that there was no immediate danger
to the student/faculty population, in attendance or walking home from
any of the schools in the area,” said Lt. JC Tremper. “No
notifications were made to schools.”

He said had the police made those contact without reason, “the results
could have been undesirable, whether it be unnecessarily upsetting children
or parents, or inadvertently inviting curious citizens to the crime scene.”

The victim was hospitalized for treatment of the gunshot wound to his
upper torso.
