Threat at Middletown school leads to Lockdown

TOWN OF WALLKILL – Maple Hill Elementary School in the Town of Wallkill was placed on lockdown and lock out following a phoned in threat Monday morning.
Town Police and State Police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office
conducted a thorough check of the building to ensure that no threat existed.
A call came in to a receptionist at 10:05 a.m. with a threat from an unidentified number with a male voice.  School officials immediately moved into an emergency lock out/lock down mode, preventing anyone from entering or leaving the building. Local and state law enforcement agencies were contacted and within minutes, police were conducting a search of the entire building and surrounding school grounds.
Following a two-hour search, an “all clear” message was issued at 12:16 p.m. and students and staff returned to a regular instructional schedule for the remainder of the school day.
Police continue to investigate to determine who made the call.
