CARMEL – Emergency services communications were impacted on Sunday as telephone service was knocked out in eastern Putnam County for much of the day.  The problem impacted Putnam 911 services, the sheriff’s office, Carmel and Kent town police departments.
While some local phone service was out, calls to other parts of the Mid-Hudson were able to go through.
Verizon was working on the problem in hopes of having it resolved by early Monday. The cause of the phone disruption was unknown as of Sunday night.
