Gibson told the new officers “There is a lot of intrinsic
reward in service”

POUGHKEEPSIE – Members of the Marist College Army ROTC were commissioned as officers in a ceremony on Friday.
Congressman Christopher Gibson, who served in the military for 29 years, addressed the members giving them the advice to lead by example.
“How important it is to be out front, to go first, to ask nothing of your troops that you won‘t do first yourself, and certainly they appreciate but it is a hard life they have volunteered for, but it is a good life,” Gibson told the new officers. “There is a lot of intrinsic reward in service,”
Gibson can appreciate what the new Army officers will go through. He began his career with the National Guard and served in the Army, retiring at the rank of colonel.
